It is with a very broken heart that I’m
letting you know that after much thought, several
sleepless nights and many tears, I’ve decided to
permanently close DAC after the holidays on January 6,
2021.
The pandemic has hit us hard. We rely on
people travelling… for vacations, to visit family, to
attend sports tournaments, to go to concerts, for work,
etc. None of that is happening right now, and I believe
that regular travel will not return to normal for at least
one and likely two years. We have very few dogs boarding
now and even with our regular daycampers, it is not
financially feasible to continue on and run this business
under these conditions.
Watching you park and get your dogs out of
the car, barking, jumping and pulling towards camp, is the
highlight of my day. Knowing that I won’t see this
anymore, that our campers will no longer enjoy the freedom
to run and play at camp with their friends and favourite
Camp Counsellors, is heartbreaking to me. That vision has
been the driver to keep going through the pandemic and try
to keep camp open. We have tried our best to keep going
because we love your dogs so much and I know they love
camp. I know that you’ve come to rely on us and I’m very
sorry that after January 6th, we can no longer offer our
services. I wish this wasn’t happening.
I want to thank my amazing staff. DAC would
never have been the same without them. I believe I have
the best staff in pet care and I’m saddened that this is
affecting them as well. They are all incredible and I wish
them the best in their future employment choice
From a business point of view… please
continue to use our services until January 6, 2021. We’d
love to see your dogs for the next couple of months. It is
business as usual and if you have a booking prior to that
date, we will be here to care for your dog. For those who
have daycamp packages that will expire after January 6, I
will be in touch with you to discuss how we will handle
that.
Thank you can’t begin to explain what it
has meant to me to gain your trust and care for your dogs.
It has been my pleasure to get to know you and your pups
and I will truly miss you all. It has been an amazing 11
years. Camp is not a business that just sells a product.
We get to know and love our campers and in that sense, it
is extra hard for us to close as we all feel like we are
losing many friends. We hope to see some of you before we
close in January so that we can say goodbye.
Sincerely,
Cheryl
