On-Site Walking Trails at Dogs at Camp

One of the things that truly sets Dogs at Camp apart is our private network of walking trails, located entirely on our own 100-acre property.

We are the only dog camp in the GTA with dedicated, on-site walking trails used daily as part of camp life. These trails are not shared with the public and are used exclusively by our campers, under the supervision of our staff.

For many dogs, time on the trails becomes a favourite part of their day.

Walking Trails

A Natural Part of Daily Camp Life

Dogs move through wooded paths, open areas, and seasonal terrain that changes throughout the year. Some walks are calm and exploratory. Others are more energetic. We adjust the pace, distance, and group size based on the dogs involved.

This kind of movement offers something very different from time spent in a fenced yard or play space alone.

It allows dogs to engage their senses, settle into a natural rhythm, and experience the kind of mental and physical enrichment that comes from moving through real outdoor space.

Year-Round Trails, All Seasons

Our trails are used throughout the year.

In the winter, dogs enjoy quiet walks through snow-covered paths, which many find calming and grounding. In warmer months, the trails lead to shaded areas and, for appropriate groups, down to the pond where dogs can swim and cool off.

Because the trails are part of our own property, we’re able to adapt routes and routines to the season, weather, and the needs of the dogs in our care.

Safety, Supervision, and GPS Tracking

All trail walks are supervised by experienced staff who know the dogs well.

For dogs hiking off leash through the trails, we also use GPS tracking devices. This added layer of safety allows us to quickly and easily locate a dog should they wander off the path, giving both staff and owners extra peace of mind.

Safety is never separated from freedom here. The two work together.

Why Trails Matter for Dogs

Trail walks offer benefits that go beyond exercise.

They help dogs:

• release excess energy in a balanced way

• engage their senses and natural instincts

• reduce stress and over-stimulation

• settle more easily during rest times

• maintain a healthy daily rhythm

For many dogs, this is the difference between simply being cared for and genuinely enjoying their time at camp.

Choosing Trail Walks for Your Dog

When booking online, you’ll be prompted to select how many trail walks you’d like your dog to enjoy during their stay.

If you’re unsure what’s appropriate, we’re always happy to help guide that choice based on your dog’s age, energy level, and comfort off leash.

See the Trails for Yourself

The best way to understand how the trails fit into camp life is to see them in person.

If you’re considering camp for your dog, we invite you to schedule a tour and walk part of the property with us. You’ll see where dogs explore, rest, and move through their days.
